There are two types of problems that you may have to deal with before you pass the completed work to your client - spelling or text errors, and an error with the correct answer not matching the one selected when you built the test.

Here is an actual example of a text error. Part of the question became one of the answers by mistake. The client sent a message to the ICT Professional that said:

re. the OPC initial test that you put online for me, there is a small mistake on question 3. The statement ‘is it iron?’ is part of the question, but it was put in as one of the alternative answers. The answer that is missing is: 'only if it is rusty'.

Typing errors can be changed by following this sequence:

1. Go 'View' then 'Source'.

2. Find Question 3 by looking for <p>3. on the left hand side of the page, or...
finding the list of "question_3"

3. Find the text that needs to be moved.

4. Highlight it and select 'cut' (you can't drag in Notepad)

5. Position the curser in the position - as part of the question. Click 'paste'. Take care that the </p> is at the very end of the text.

6. Type in the required answer option.

NOTE: in this example, we are changing text in the Question and the Answer, but the text in the correct answer still corresponds with the program knows value="4" is the correct answer.

7. Go 'File', then 'Save As'.

8. Locate the file in its original directory and select it.

9. Change 'Txt' to 'All files' (the file will already be in html).

10. Go 'Save'.

11. Send the new version to me as an attachment.

If you need to change the correct answer (when you select the answer known to be the right one, and you get it wrong) here is the process:

1. Take notice of the answer from the result page: eg “Question 8: answered 1 (should be 5)”

2. This tells you that the program sets answer 5 as the correct answer.

3. As we cannot change this, we need to move the answer text to correspond with it.

4. Go 'View' then 'Source'.

5. Highlight answer 5, then ‘cut’.

6. Highlight answer 1, then drag it down to where 5 was.

7. Place answer 5 where 1 was, taking care that the talking marks are still in place.

8. Go 'File', then 'Save As'.

9. Locate the file in its original directory and select it.

10. Change 'Txt' to 'All files' (the file will already be in html).

11. Go 'Save'.

12. Send the new version to me as an attachment.
